events I have volunteered at
In order to receive the Professional Event Managers Certificate I had to obtain a certain amount of volunteer hours working events.
dancing for the health of it all
Organization: Health for All
Service Activities: I helped put up table numbers when I first arrived and then I was assigned to be at the front check in table. I used an iPad to help guests check in and, if they wanted to, apply a credit card to their account in order to do all the biding and donating from their cell phone. At the end of the end of the event I helped clean up the dinning area and the raffle table. This is event was one of the more stressful events I have worked. The system we used to check guests in was new and there were a lot of glitches that we came in contact with. As a volunteer, I also felt very out of the loop, I had guests coming up to me and asking all sorts of questions that I did not know the answer to. Date of Service: 03/24/2018 Hours: 5 |

Spirit of texas fest
Organization: S.O.T. Festival, LLC
Service Activities: I worked with the Idea Village at the festival. I was assigned a group of elementary school students to guide around to different educational stations/tents set up. These were all very interesting and the kids seemed to enjoy them very much. They ranged from learning about the environment, building Lego towers to test on a hurricane simulator, making tortillas, and a chemistry show. When I signed up to volunteer I was told I would be helping set up for another part of the festival, but when I arrived they re-assigned me to help with the Idea Village. So it was a little unorganized but overall the festival had a lot going on and it all seemed to be flowing well. Date of Service: 03/23/2018 Hours: 4 |

Waldrons Wedding
Organization: Wonderfully Wed
Service Activities: I helped set up the dinner/reception area for the Waldrons' Wedding. This included putting up tables, chairs, setting the table with chargers and other decorations. I believe we created a beautiful space that the newly weds envisioned and will hopefully remember for the years to come. Date of Service: 01/19/2018 Hours: 4 |

Poteet Strawberry festival
Organization: Alamo National Grange
Service Activities: I worked at the Alamo Grange booth that was serving BBQ on a bun (chopped brisket sandwich) and chips. I worked at the counter getting orders and taking tickets. It was a very fun experience and the Strawberry Festival is amazing (especially if you love strawberries). I worked the last shift on Saturday night so I also helped clean up the booth after we finished selling all the meat. Date of Service: 04/9/2017 Hours: 5 |

Big boo
Organization: Walton/Legett Hall Councils
Service Activities: I helped set up and work a table that served "mocktails" (non-alcoholic drinks, such as Shirley Temples and virgin margaritas). On each cup was a fact about alcohol awareness and the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption. We served Shirley Temples and virgin frozen margaritas. This was a very fun event and I was able to dress up too! Date of Service: 10/24/2016 Hours: 3 |

Pumpkinpalooza
Organization: Millican Reserve
Service Activities: I was originally assigned to the Pumpkin Patch, but they were a few volunteers short so I ended up spending most of my service at an inflatable bounce house. I watched over the inflatable and made sure there weren't too many kids inside at one time and that they all took their shoes off before they went inside. Pumpkinpalooza was exciting and I liked how family friendly it was. Date of Service: 10/16/2016 Total Hours: 4 |

Christmas in the park
Organization: College Station Parks & Recreation
Service Activities: My job at this event was to help pass out hot chocolate and cookies to guests. The kitchen/pavilion area was set up so there was not a whole of interaction with the guests, but it was still a lot of fun to engage with other volunteers who had done Christmas in the Park for years.
